Hymie was an 'only child,' widowed, and had retired from active participation in the law firm of which still bore his name as an equal partner with another attorney. Younger men were running the firm now, and several new names had been added to the masthead. Hymie's money was still pouring in, though he no longer had to drive 'downtown' to Los Angeles. Being well-off and suspicious of any attempts by people to become friends due to his wealth, Hymie really had no one in which to confide in, other than his good friend and Rabbi, Milton. "Milton, my good friend, find me a new wife." A year had gone by, then one day Milton decided to tell Hymie where he might possibly find a wife. "Hymie," said the Rabbi, "this woman is young, lovely, and her mother says she is still a virgin." Susan, the mother of the young gal had informed her Rabbi that since her daughter had now been graduated from college, it was time that she was married to a nice Jewish man. Hymie, because of being a life-long friend of his Rabbi, was being given 'the inside track,' in that he was being informed before the Rabbi told anyone else. "Rebecca? You are talking about Rebecca Schwartz, the daughter of Susan Schwartz? I remember her," Hymie had said. "Rebecca is indeed beautiful. I have seen her at the synagoque. Milton, how do you know that she is available? A young woman with a body like that must have tons of men hanging around." The good Rabbi grinned and 'punched' his old friend on the shoulder. "Find my daughter Rebecca a husband, Rabbi," Susan has asked me more than once. "It is time my daughter was married to a good man, but preferably a man of means. That's what she said to me." The part about finding a man with money did not bother Hymie or the Rabbi. That was good business sense. Well, Hymie was certainly a man of means since he had a beautiful home in West Los Angeles 18930 1.53/512345
